This site aims to answer your questions about the benefits of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy and whether it is suitable for you. (It is!)
Since 1991 I have been helping people like you to overcome their anxieties and phobias, to gain self-confidence, to lose weight or to deal with more complex issues – however I am no longer taking on new clients.
If you have questions which just don’t seem to be answered by the information available here I will still be happy to offer some guidance on the phone. You can contact me confidentially on 079500 24364.
Kind regards,
Jonathan Manning.
HYPNOSIS
Hypnosis is actually a very everyday state of mind that you’d often experience when you watch a favourite television programme. What takes place in the consulting room is just as normal and non-magical, with predictable results.
There is absolutely no question of being controlled or manipulated, or even induced into a deep trance state. A person in Hypnotherapy to help reduce anxiety. Hypnoanalysis to set you free of it!hypnosis is not asleep, they are often more aware of what is taking place than usual and their senses function more efficiently than normal. Nobody could possibly be made to do anything that they did not want to do, and anybody (except the truly mentally subnormal, very young children and the very drunk) can enter the hypnotic state.
The centuries old techniques of hypnotherapy are being used increasingly along-side orthodox medicine as a valuable alternative to drugs to control the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, to reduce insomnia, relieve panic attacks and control pain. A good definition of hypnosis is “a state of relaxation and concentration at one with a state of heightened awareness induced by suggestion”.
In my hypnotherapy clinic I will use just the spoken voice to induce hypnosis and, although there isn’t a feeling of being hypnotised as such, you will probably experience a feeling of mental and physical relaxation and your memory may well be enhanced, You will find me to be a caring professional totally devoid of any mystical or magical powers! No flowing robes or swinging watches – just a reassuring manner to put you at ease, and the expertise to help you with your problem.
WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM THERAPY?
– Have you become indecisive and unsure of yourself, lacking self-confidence?
– Do you feel out of control – unable to lose weight or a self destructive habit?
– Do you feel anxious or get panic attacks, feel unable to cope or suffer from depression?
– Do you suffer from insomnia or symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome when you are stressed?
– Have you suffered traumatic stress or been the victim of childhood abuse and even now feel unable to come to terms with it?
If the answer is “yes” then you would benefit, for there is no reason why anyone should put up with something which they feel is “inside themselves but outside their control.”
WHY DO YOU FEEL LIKE THIS?
Unfortunately, all of us are, to some degree a victim of our past. As children, few of us has the psychological know-how to overcome our own past, our own experiences. The result is a broad range of symptoms from panic attacks, depression, can’t lose weight, to sexual problems, etc., etc. Won’t it be great to regain your confidence, take care of yourself. How many of us were raised in a family that was constantly nuturing and supportive providing us with unconditional love? In varying degrees we can identify with having suffered some physical, emotional, mental and spiritual anguish as a result of growing up. We have all experienced pain, put-downs, disappointments, traumas, some of us have been able to handle it better than others.
It takes a lot of energy to block out painful emotions. As a result, the person might feel down, depressed or fatigued or be totally numb to life. Other means may also be employed that are detrimental to the person’s health and relationships – like the excessive intake of drugs, alcohol or smoking, or using work, violence or sex to mask or suppress their pain.
As a registered hypnotherapist, I offer caring and professional help, in total confidentiality, for emotional and psychological problems through a combination of hypnotherapy and hypnoanalysis. I can see you in either Southampton or Andover. Click here to get details of things like addresses and fees.
